Someone once said to me, “SHOW ME YOUR FRIENDS AND I’LL SHOW YOU YOUR FUTURE.”

Since that moment I made a conscious decision to pay attention to the people I surround myself with, ensuring that I don’t swing towards isolation or unhelpful associations.

Our friendships matter. In fact they really matter, to God.

In the past I believed that I didn’t need people. That all they did was getting my way and cause me pain. But over years of God working on my heart I now wholeheartedly agree with God’s way for His people. That we are better when we’re together. Friendship is central to who God is as the trinity; (Father, Son and Holy Spirit.) and my limited experience has showed me that we were never created for isolation but for intimacy.

I am so grateful for the people in my life who have stood and continue to stand in my corner cheering me on towards the bright future that is ahead of me. I am better, stronger, more gracious and courageous, today, because of the faith filled people that surround my life.

If you’d like to explore this idea of friendship, you can watch this message entitled “Who’s in your corner?” that I recently preached at Linc Church.
